Lisa A. Scales is an accomplished individual who has dedicated over 30 years of committed service to the citizens of Cumberland County. Lisa began her career in 1985 as a representative of Business Records. She then joined the staff of the Register of Deeds in 1986. Below is a list of her many accomplishments while serving Cumberland County:

- Received NCARD Deputy Register of Deeds Certification in 1990
- Promoted to Assistant Register of Deeds in 1998
- Planner of the NCARD 2006 Annual Conference in Fayetteville
- Received NCARD Advanced Register of Deeds Certification in 2009
- Served on the NCARD Certification Committee from 2012 - present
- Promoted to Deputy Senior Assistant in 2014
- Promoted to Senior Assistant in 2016
- Register of Deeds Lead HR Assessor and Trainer
- NCARD active attendee & conference participant for many years
- Coordinated and planned numerous workshops for NCARD District V
- Chaired and served as an Officer on many community Boards & Organizations
- IACREOT Member and Annual Conference attendee in 2007 & 2014
- Office representative, coordinator and contributor to the United Way, American Heart Association and the American Red Cross
- Military Spouses Association member
- 2015 Winner of the prestigious “Charles W. Moore” Award through the NCARD
- Precinct Chair for the Judson/Vander voting district
- Past President of the Democratic Women of Cumberland County
- Member of Covenant Love Church
- Co-Chair and coordinator of a community wide effort to book bags and school supplies to over 800 homeless children through the Register of Deeds Office, the Fayetteville Police Department and the Cumberland County School System from 2009-2017
- Married to Lt. Darryl Scales of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office who is a veteran with the United States Army and mother to Jamar Scales, also of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office
Lisa loves our local community and all of its citizens. She has been an asset to this community for a number of years and is excited for the opportunity to extend her service in new ways.
